1. Who is a strategist? Describe the
main types of jobs that have a strong strategy element.
In
the past, political leader or military general used to be called as strategist.
But the definition of strategist has broadened today. Business leaders like
Bill Gates, Ratan Tata are called successful strategist. Scientist, inventors,
writers, sports managers, political leaders, civil right campaigners, film
artist, musicians and others are considered to be a strategist today.
Followings
are the main types of jobs that have a strong strategy element:

Chief Executive Officer/ Chief Operating
Officer/ Managing Director
They
are the people who have the highest rank in a company. He is the administrator
who reports to the board of directors. The roles and responsibilities are these
people are made by Board of directors. They are the strategists who have to
make decision, lead the employees and manage people. Being a leader, he can
give advice to the Board of Directors; can make change with a firm and
motivates workers.

Owner or Founder of the business
Owner
is the one who invest money in the business. He has the right to sell his
business to other and plays a crucial role in decision making. The founder is
the one who started the business with his own money for high return
·
Leader
He
is the person who leads people. He can be a business leader, political leader
or others. He is responsible for making strategy that will be good.
·
Business Analyst or a strategy
consultant
They
are the people who analyses the external and internal environment of an
organization. According to the nature of business they advises business owner
what strategy they need to follow.
2. What is the difference between a
strategic planner and strategy consultant? (use your own words or reference
quotes)

Planner is those who have the responsibility to help the organization to show a
way to improve or develop and be competitive with the change in time. The main
job of a strategic planner is to gather, evaluate and organize a data in a
systematic way. They are mainly responsible for creating innovative ideas,
solving strategic problems, test or evaluate the strategic performance of an
organization and many more.
Strategy
Consultant
They
are the external experts who are responsible for providing knowledge and ideas
to an organization. They might be large
consultancy firm or company who give emphasis on strategy. They play an
important role in strategy development of a company. Following are the roles
and responsibilities of a strategy consultant:

Analyze, prioritize and generate options
When
a company faces a lack of clarity on how to move on with the relevant issues,
then these consultants are the key to handle them.

Promote Strategic decisions:
They
are the players who have been playing an important role in decision making of
an organization, which is a risk taking job.

Knowledge carrier:
They
are the people who have the knowledge of external as well as internal factors
which affect the organization.

Business Leader: Rajendra Khetan
He
is currently the Manager Director of Khetan Group. He has invested in different
portfolio of business such as banking, Liquor and others. With his vision, he has
been a successful businessman of Nepal.
Inventor or
Scientist: Giwarna Shamsher Rana
He was the first scientist of Nepal. He invented
different kinds of guns and bullets which was used in several wars. He is the
father of science in Nepal.
Sport Manager: Upendra Man Singh
He
is a former goalkeeper and former team manager of Three Star Club. He is the
most successful goal keeper of Nepal till date. He was responsible to win
several leagues when he was a coach for Three Star Club.
Civil Right Campaigner: Anuradha
Koirala
Anuradha
Koirala has worked for those women who faced human trafficking. She was awarded
as a CNN Hero in 2011.
Writer: Laxmi Prasad Devkota
He
is known as “the Father of Nepalese Literature”. There is nothing that has not
been written by him. His writing skills were simple and everybody can
understand that. He is the writer of “Munamadan”, which is the highest selling
book in Nepal.

I
want to be involved in business strategy. I have good presentation skill, good
knowledge about business, how to deal with problems and conflicting situation.
But the thing is that I do not have experience in strategy job till date. So, I
need to study about that and I should take such responsibilities if someone offers
it to me.
